But the version she was using were obsolete, could someone help me to do this in version 3 * ?

did this ages ago for a client.. can't exactly remember but think just in the cart default template with JS script (or was it php) to hide the checkout button and show a message until the minimum qty was reached
don't you know if there is a plugin to do this? because i don't understand much of virtuemart's structure and i don't want to change anything in the core.

but never heard of one
the change isn't core .. just a template over ride to the cart default...
or set the shipping method to a minimum products and change the no ship found message
