I'm using VM 3.0.14, J3.5.1, PHP5.6.19
The problem is that a related category is not being saved on the Product Edit page. Note, Related Products does work as it should.
First I select a category by typing 'aft', which finds 'Aftercare'. I then click Save and the page refreshes with no related category showing. See attached screenshots.
Note also, when I hit SPACE when selecting a related category it should display all categories. It only displays 10, not sure why.
I have checked the Related Categories Custom Field and it looks fine - see attached image. I have also checked table _virtuemart_customs and it does contain the required rows for Related Categories and Related Products.
I have the same problem.
Only change is that I use PHP7
Hi - I fixed this by deleting the custom fields and recreating them. I had imported them from an old VM and I dont think they were set up quite correctly.
Just copy the settings from a blank, default Virtuemart.

saraheagle, did you use VirtueMart Migrator for the migration - if so, which version?
My problem was caused by a bug in VM Migrator, which has now been fixed in v4.2.5.
