I am running Joomla 3.4.8 and VM 3.0.14 and I have had this issue crop up more than once now. For some people the CAPTCHA code never appears for them (at least that is what I suspect is the issue) and they are unable to process their order. The enter the credit card information, billing address and then confirm order at which point they are brought back to the cart page and are given no error message. They try again and are brought back to the cart. It never seems to ask for CAPTCHA. The most recent person was running Win 10, IE 11. I tested this myself and got the CAPTCHA and processed just fine.
Any ideas why CAPTCHA wouldn't appear?
My question would be why ask for captcha in a checkout? Perhaps in a contact page.. more remotely in a registration .. but to check out?
Why make the checkout difficult and what is your captcha guarding against? Extremely clever net bots that can fill in and choose payment and shipping after choosing their products? ;)
They'll be choosing their own dress sizes next.. :P
I have to admit I have never understood this paranoia about the odd spammy form submission.. delete and move on is my motto.. :D

So I suppose the "Use ReCaptcha for Registration" when we don't allow registration is unnecessary anyhow. Is that why it shows the Captcha? Where else would I disable it?

I have the same problem. After upgrade VM to 3.0.14 missing recaptcha in "Use ReCaptcha for recommendations and 'Ask a question'" the same in registration. For help thanks in advance.
