Sorry for bumping this thread.
Using J3.6.2 VM 3.018
I have tried to read the documentation as well as years old sticky threads here but cant find a solution.

Is it still not possible to select the generic child product without opening the product details page but instead stay in the category page and from there  add to cart?

I have a few generic child products here: http://www.stenogfritid.dk/dk/stenslibning/tilbehor/siliciumslibehjul-og-b%C3%A5nd (http://www.stenogfritid.dk/dk/stenslibning/tilbehor/siliciumslibehjul-og-b%C3%A5nd) where I would like the costumer to be able to choose the childs from the category page. Well the dropdown is there and the URL changes but it does not load a new page.

Check with standard template and no overrides. Could be a template error. Ther has been template Changes for 3.0.18 that has impact on js. Please read

Thanks I have read it.
Spyros have updated the template to work with 3.018 (Hera) already and we installed the update a few days back.

It behaves exactly the same under Protostar.

This is the productdetail and child prods works fine: http://www.stenogfritid.dk/dk/slibesten-buy (http://www.stenogfritid.dk/dk/slibesten-buy)
From the frontpage under Latest Products (Seneste Produkter) the dropdown also works.
Going to the category page: http://www.stenogfritid.dk/dk/stenslibning/tilbehor/siliciumslibehjul-og-b%C3%A5nd (http://www.stenogfritid.dk/dk/stenslibning/tilbehor/siliciumslibehjul-og-b%C3%A5nd) the dropdown does not work it fetches the URL but does not load the selected product page.

Any settings for the category page that can do this?

Anyone with a good advice, it is driving me nuts that I need developer skills to use VM3 or that I cannot find the proper documentation to read how things are done properly.

Thanks in advance

Hello Troels_e

I tried on my 3.0.18 install. I use the Hera template. I can choose the variant and get then redirected to the details page. I have customized this template a bit so I am not sure if the category override is up to date, but it works as done before. i don´t Think the generic Child is supposed to stay on category page. This I think only applies to the multivariant.

Spyros @ www.olympianthemes.com (http://www.olympianthemes.com) fixed it for me, he really provides an outstanding service!

And VM was not to blame this time:-)
