So, I fixed the link in the banner, that was incorrect.
Now the link in the banner is the same in the Literature -> The Starting Guide -> In English menu and works well.
Now I'm going to investigate the problem with Chrome...
I tested my site with Chrome on Ubuntu Linux.
It worked perfectly: the book was in the cart and I can log in.
Did not you accept the cookies?
In this case, you have to accept them. Go to the footer menu, click Cookie Management, scroll down the page (only in Italian, sorry...) to the bottom and the click Reconsider Cookies. Refresh (or go to the home page) and then you can accept the cookies in the banner at the top of the page.
Now you should be able to finalize your purchase.

An update. On my mobile phone (Android), Chrome has malfunctioned, just as you had reported. So I cleaned the browser cache and cancelled all stored data: then the site worked fine.
afraid still problems in Chrome.. cache cleared and restarted - cookies accepted

It's a cookies matter.
- Go to the site
- Scroll down the page
- Click Cookie Management
- Scroll down the page
- Click Remove Cookies and confirm
- Scroll down the page
- Click Reconsider Cookies
- In the new banner at the top of the page, click I Agree
Now you can successfully log in. You will see a short welcome message ("Hi,
username. Welcome!")
