I am new to Virtuemart and I am looking for some information on sales tax. I am using 3.0.12 and Joomla 3.4.7.
I live in Colorado (USA) and my requirement is to collect sales tax based on location. If the buyer lives in a certain town in Colorado, I need to collect one rate. If a buyer lives in other towns in Colorado, I need to collect other rates. In some towns, I only need to collect a state sales tax. If a buyer doesn't live in Colorado, I am not required to collect any sales tax. So what I am looking for is a way to charge the proper sales tax based on either the zip code or city/state. I haven't been able to figure out how to collect sales tax based on location and need assistance with this.
I also do not want the individual item price to reflect the sales price with sales tax. I only want the total sales tax calculated for the order to be displayed on the checkout page.
Is there an easy way to do this or is it better to use a third-party component or plugin? If a third-party component or plugin in the answer, what component or plugin is recommended to use?

I've seen this link and read about it, but wasn't sure if it addressed my specific requirements. With no phone number to talk to anyone, I am hesitant to spend 60 Euro for a plugin made outside the US. Virtuemart itself isn't a very friendly or a well documented product, however, it is a better solution that paying a recurring fee for other choices.
Can you explain how this plugin will specifically address my sales tax requirements?
