Title: VirtueMart 2.6.18 - suddenly cart is not saving
Post by: Mike1989 on August 26, 2015, 10:29:29 AM
Hi
I have a webshop on cocktailvision.dk.
Last friday i had my last order, and everything worked fine.
But when i tested my system yesterday, the checkout function was not working anymore.
Whenever a user tries to checkout and types in delivery information: address, email, payment method, delivery method,
the shop is not saving it, making it impossible to confirm the order.

I have tried to restore a backup from earlier (both mysql and all files) but it is still not helping.

Do you guys have any ideas where to look?

Best regards,

Mike

What has changed on the host?

Actually i don't know.
Should I try to ask them for something specific?

I have found out something that may help you - helping me :)
I have turned all cache off due to the problem. But VM is still generating some cache,
and if I checkout and afterwards clear VM cache (in Joomla), the information is registered
and it is possible for me to complete the order.

But the site has worked before. So why is it that it suddenly is not working anymore.
jenkinhill - you are suggesting that i can be the server/host and it is the only thing that makes sense.
But what can it be, on the server, that is making VM cache not work anymore?

I never use caching on a VM site..  the only cache that is always there is the vmcats display and rss if u use it

IMHO thats all that should be used...

GJC: All cache is turned off.
So the question is why i suddenly get a error with VM (vm_cats) cache (that can not be turned off).

vm_cats cannot be turned off but has no effect on the checkout routines

How can you then explain the following:

1. When i check out, VM is not saving the information about shipment method, payment, address etc.
You can try to checkout on cocktailvision.dk

2. If i checkout anyway, and clear VM_cats, i can finish my order.
So when i clear vm_cats i can see all the information that i have typed in, and i can confirm the order.

Ask the host if there was configuration change or an update, for example to PHP version.  If something changes suddenly with no input or change within the Joomla BE then it is either down to the host or a hacker.

Thanks jenkinhill.

I have contacted the host, and they are saying that they have updated Litespeed in the weekend.
They are trying to find a solution, but if that is not possible, would it maybe be a good idea to upgrade
to VM and Joomla 3?

Or is there something else that i can try?

to me Litespeed sounds like some dodgy cache thing to stuff even more sites on a piece of hardware

this is the server serving end of things .. IMHO your J & VM versions will have no bearing on it .. the server is returning a cached (unfilled) version of the cart page

IMHO how can a server based OS caching system ever work reliably for the 100's of different requirements of any given site?
Would avoid .. ask them to disable the Litespeed on your hosting and see what happens
