We have developed a plugin for Widgetkit 2 that lets you use Virtuemart as content source. So you can create all the different grids, slidesets, galleries... with your Virtuemart categories or products.
You can choose from Virtuemart fields; Short description, Product description, Image, Product Publish Date, Manufacture, Categories and Price display them as you wish.
