Title: Upgraded from 2.0.24 to version 3.0.9 - no control panel ???
Post by: dmb on August 05, 2015, 17:18:03 PM
Hi,

I'm upgrading an old website at the moment, trying to get everything up to current versions. The base site is Joomla 2.5.28 now, and was running Virtuemart 2.0.24. I've uploaded and installed the core and AIO for Virtuemart 3.0.9 but am seeing a number of very weird effects.

The control panel is gone from the back-end - see (https://s3.amazonaws.com/oups.yellowbell.net/vmupgrade.png) for before and after images.

Also the front-end pages (e.g. shopping cart) no longer display any prices ...

Is the jump from 2.0.24 to 3.0.9 a step too far ?

Any help appreciated,

David

Probably a jump too far. Try some of the earlier versions first - http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files

Thanks for the feedback ! I restored the last good version of the site and applied every upgrade in step up to 2.6.18. Everything tested out OK.

The jump seems to be at 2.9.9b where everything goes screwy. I get a page full of messages in red on an orange background in the Joomla Extension Manager and while it says the module was installed successfully, prices are no longer displayed on the front end (e.g. in the checkout page or shopping cart) etc. etc.

I guess I'm in a better place (well 12 upgrades further along than the currently live site !), maybe I should go live at that level and take some time to work out what's going wrong before trying to move up any more versions.

Thanks again,

David

You may have to update your front end template too, depending on who the developer is. Also check your price display settings in VM configuration.

I'd be concentrating on getting VM2 fully up to date and working correctly on J2.5 and then backup before trying the move to VM3 on the backup.
