Hi,
We have a Joomla 1.5 website with 4000 Virtuemart products. We would like to take that data and import it into a Joomla 3 website.
Does anyone know how to do this, or could anyone provide a guide on how to do this?
I did look online but couldn't find anything that explained how to go directly from 1.5 to 3.

I'm sure this has been covered here more than a few times; you can do it with VM's built in migrator, but easiest is to use Daycounts migrator. http://extensions.virtuemart.net/import-export/virtuemart-migrator-detail
Thanks for the link, but I do not think this will work in this situation.
We need to import from Joomla 1.5 / Virtuemart 1 to Joomla 3.4 / latest version of Virtuemart.
The extension you suggested does not appear to let us bypass Joomla 2.5 during the process.
Maybe there isn't an available extension that will let me do this, and maybe we will have to do the import manually?

I think your making this more difficult than it needs to be
How I do it in this situation
clean J2.5/VM2.6 -> migrate J1.5/VM1.1
upgrade J2.5 install to VM3.0.9 //this isn't even necessary if u only need a set of VM3 tables
upgrade J2.5 ->J3.4.1
job done -- now you have a full set of VM3 tables ready to drop in any VM3 install

hm? I am not the manufacturer of this extension, but I used it myself and see some of the tickets people writing to daycounts. As far as I know you can directly install the last joomla, the last vm,.. then oyu install the migrator and you can import from almost
any Joomla Version and
any VM Version.
So a customer even migrated a vm1.0/j1.0 to vm3/j3.4,... of course it was originally written for j1.5/vm1.1 to j2.5/vm2. Now adjusted for j1.5/vm1.1 to vm3/j3. Just write a ticket, if you are not sure http://extensions.virtuemart.net/ticket
I can confirm what max said. I have used the extension myself to transfer data directly from 1.5 to 3.4.
