Joomla 3, Virtuemart 3

I trying to add sub heading or at the very least blank spacers between groups of fields within a custom field string. This is very common practice in online shops everywhere so I assume I'm missing something within the custom fields admin?

Currently I have a custom field displaying thus and the product amount auto updates:

oil paint 12x10 - £50
oil paint 12x12 - £50
oil paint 12x15 - £50
oil paint 18x20 - £50
poster paint 12x10 - £50
poster paint 12x12 - £50
poster paint 12x15 - £50
poster paint 18x20 - £50

what I require is thus:

Oil Paint
oil paint 12x10 - £50
oil paint 12x12 - £50
oil paint 12x15 - £50
oil paint 18x20 - £50
Poster Paint
poster paint 12x10 - £50
poster paint 12x12 - £50
poster paint 12x15 - £50
poster paint 18x20 - £50

Surely I'm missing something in the custom fields settings, you would think this is a rudimentary requirement in an online shop.
If anyone can help I'd be very grateful :D

Surely this is standard on most E-commerce sites........free or paid for?

I'm surprised nobody knows how to add these sub titles to a custom field drop menu??

my Joomla version is: Joomla! 3.4.1
my Virtuemart version is: VirtueMart 3.0.6
