Title: Configure SSL on my site
Post by: thebarbarian on April 28, 2015, 09:16:54 AM
Hi All,

I have hosted my VirtueMart with hostforlife.eu (http://hostforlife.eu). Now, I want to configure SSL on my site. Could you please advise steps by steps to implement this? Do I need static IP for SSL?

yes - but your host is really the one to ask...

buy a cert - get a fixed ip - have it installed .. set joomla to use only ssl

If I buy the SSL from other vendor, can I? Is it easy to implement it? My apologize if this is newbie question. I'm quite new. My hosting provider said the easier is to purchase from them. I just want to know that if I can get from other vendor. I'm looking for cheaper ssl solution. :)

it depends if your host will install a 3rd party cert for you - some wont - or charge silly amounts

It also depends how much they want for their cert - I have bought from here: https://store.cheapsslshop.com
they are a reseller for geotrust

looks totally dodgy but it was all kosher.. but as I say - depends what your host says
