Title: Horizontal menu
Post by: Topknotch on February 05, 2015, 19:01:39 PM
Running Joomla 2.5.28 and Virtuemart 3.0.4
I need to create a menu similar to this one - http://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/
As you will see that it has numerous rows and columns which I need also as the sub cats are quite big.
I have tried CK maxi menu and the new JUX Virtuemart mega menu, but neither of them seem to able to achieve what I need.
I am posting on here in case anyone else has an idea as I am lost on this one and just cannot believe that there is not something out there and I am just missing it.
I do not really want to create new menus in Joomla for the categories unless I really have to, and if I do have to do, how would I split them into rows and columns ?
Hope someone can help and that I posted this in the right area!!
Thanks

I think instead of menu look for template that has "Mega Menu" availalbe for example see this template

http://demo.joomlaman.com/#jm-corporate

So in short either search for some Mega menu or just templates that has mega menu that will solve your problem inshahAllah

problem is I already have my template , Joomla mega menus will work great, but I need a virtuemart mega menu and as stated I have tried the extensions on the market and for some reason they just do not do what I want them to do.
It has to be simple doesn't it as I am sure most e commerce sites use this sort of menu dropdown ?

I think there is no such thing as "Virtumart Menu" , its Joomla template so look for Joomal Mega menu.

The only solution i can see is to change your template with some that has mega menu

he means a menu extension to show the VM categories automatically - without having to make the each menu item manually

If you can't find one then it is a manual code or manual menu items on an existing menu extension

And no - you don't need to change your template to restyle a menu

I use this - it is not automatic but you get good control if you buy the plugins

No I do not use the VM catgory plugin - I prefer to handle the menu items manually (better control)
