Title: Custom fields filter as part of "orderlistcontainer"

Hi,

I'd like to know if it is possible to add a dropdown menu that filters products based on custom fields,
as an "orderlistcontainer" next to the "sort by" and "manufacturer" dropdown menu?

I know there are extensions/modules for that, but obviously you can't put them there.
