We are using Joomla version 2.5.22, PHP version 5.3.25 and Vituemart 2.6.6. I can not get to shopping cart without entering a usename and password. We can unclicked "on check out ask for registration" and "Only registered users can checkout"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds more like you have a Joomla menu assigned to the cart that is for registered users

You were correct! We changed menu to public and can now reach shopping cart without logging in. I really appreciate you taking the time!
Now when I reach the cart I am given a list of registered users to choose from - I need to remove that as well but will try to find resolution myself.

Nope - never seen such a thing .... :(
I removed it.
In Configuration >>> Checkout >>> Uncheck "Allow Administrator to change current shopper"
It does not make real sense to me, but it removed the box with the users/shoppers.
Also I was surprised that the shoppers in VirtueMart are also controlling the users in the website, i.e. if I delete a shopper it deletes the registered user completely.
But this means you must have been logged into the frontend as a super admin - never test your site as an admin unless this is what you want!
If you want to test as a normal shopper go thru the proper process as a normal shopper would...
Otir did not log in as a Super admin in the front end. She instead tested with a test member we set up for testing.
Now we are stuck in a loop. When I add something to the cart, I am asked for name and address, when I hit save, I am brought back to same page - We are in a loop.
We can not thank you enough for all your help.
Update - found answer on forum - needed to configure in the shopper field list (require show in shopper form)
