VM-2.6.6

I have a product ESO485 -Black SIZE 10 and only 1 piece in stock. The Parent stock quantity has 40 in stock. When I place an order for that specific item more than one it accepts it. In other words doesn't check the child quantity but it checks the parent because when I place an order of that item more than 40 it place it into the cart with max quantity of 40. . The strange is when I have 0 stock for the child then I get the NOTIFY ME instead of the ADD TO CART.
Please help

I know your post is quite old, but have you found a solution ?

I am facing the same issue, with J2.5.27 and VM2.6.6...
