Title: Error on url with "." (dot) generated by VM alias

VM self generated product alias contained "." (dot) causing 404 page.

eg:
"DC24-24V (1.1A) MEAN WELL SD-25C-24" -> "dc24-24v-1.1a-mean-well-sd-25c-24"

Fix your server, it works for me.

Yep...
Im getting the very same 404 problem...  just leave out the (dot) in the name (or alias).
I am not reporting it as a bug, as it is so minor, but maybe a trap for young players.

Using VM 2.6.0

Quigley as I wrote before

"Fix your server". It has nothing todo with vm, nor joomla. We just allow . in the URL, if a server has problems with it, the server has a poor setup. So it is not a bug, even it would be a big problem. Because other configure their server correctly and want to use the .

Not everything which is not working as expected is a bug. Sometimes the world is just a nasty place
