I have various products split into 2 Categories - CatA and CatB. Now there is a requirement to Filter all the products of CatA into 3 subcategories - SubCatA, SubCatB and SubCatC.
I have created sub categories and the Product Categories looks as below:
CatA
-SubCatA
-SubCatB
-SubCatC
CatB
When user clicks on SubCatA, only those products which are categorized as SubCatA should be listed and same case for SubCatB and SubCatC. And when the user clicks on main category CatA, all products of its sub category be listed (products of SubCatA + SubCatB + SubCatC).
Can you please assist, how can we do this.

Just assign your products both to the parent and the sub-categories.
Btw. If you want to use categories for assigning properties and for filtering,it is not very good idea. There are custom fields and filtering extensions for that purpose
