Title: New VM layout with the same website template
Post by: V1llum on April 27, 2014, 13:10:57 PM
Hi guys.
I have tried to figure this out myself, but for some reason i just dont seem to understand how i cusomize the layout of Virtuemart.
I basically want 6 category-listpages with jewelry that i sell. I want the layout to be really simple - something like this: http://www.moreton.net.au/category/furniture-hire/stools-hire-exhibitions/

Is it possible to install a theme, or very simply tweak the standard virtuemart layout? Right now my category-list pages looks like this: http://an-m.dk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=category&virtuemart_category_id=1&lang=en

Thank you very much!

VirtueMart layout is controlled by template (view) files and by css. If you have just a little basic PHP, HTML & CSS knowledge the template files can be edited to provide your preferred d layout, with theedited files then being used as template overides, so the edits remain in place whenever VM is updated.

For info se http://docs.virtuemart.net/tutorials/33-templating-layouts.html and http://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/overrides

Or you can install commercialy developed themes, eg http://www.virtueplanet.com/virtuemart-themes

I think it will be better to go with the themes that are already made.
On the link you gave me, there are only 2 themes. Do you know any other websites that have more themes to choose from?

You will have to search - I generally make my own overrides for each site.

Note that there are far more VM/Joomla templates where you buy a Joomla template specially themed for VM. Look in http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?board=135.0 and http://extensions.virtuemart.net/  for a start.
