Title: Is it possible to show just VM?
Post by: trickomm on April 02, 2014, 11:45:34 AM
Hi all,

I have a big problem. One of my client owns a restaurant, and chosed one template, what I  needed to buy for him and configure the site to be able order pizza, etc. from the restaurant.

The basic problem is, the template made to joomla 1.5, I think I dont need to solve about security reasons... I can not migrate the template to 2.5 joomla or higher, so I figured out a solution, I have no idea is it possible to do with Virtuemart?

So the idea: I will make the website as a simple HTML with the design he wanted (I have the PSD sources), and I will install a joomla 2.5 or 3 to one subdir. After that when the user clicks on the "order online now" button, in a popup window, I want just show the Virtuemart component, without menus or anything else what is joomla.

Is it possible to do any way?

Really big thanks for the answers and ideas :)

Regards
Peter

It is somehow possible, but I would push the port of the template to j2.5

To convert a J1.5 template to J2.5:

Thanks, I tried to convert, but some lines missing at the old temp, module positions not working well, etc... this is why I asked it.

You can create a separate template for virtuemart then assign it to the virtuemart menu.

You might want to use a standard template that comes close to the layout you have and change the html parts that need to be changed.

Guess, that is the easiest way, if you have the PSD and an idea of the different sections, you need to create.

Or just search for blank template and do it from scratch, not that difficult either and you don't carry all the unnecessary code from a template that is not really meant for the purpose.
