I hope this is the right section.
i'm preparing to move from virtuemart 1.5 to 2.0.26,
I've already tested 2.0.26 but before going online i'd like to know
if there is an estimated date for version 2.5.x stable (weeks or months).
Otherwise there will be a tool to upgrade from 2.0.x to version 2.5.x.

First: Since VirtueMart 2.0.0 we have always the updater onboard. It is part of our philosophy. The trouble updating virtuemart is mainly created by the layout overrides.
Second: The vm2.6 (vm2.5.5) is finished. I am just on writing the News for it. I would start with vm2.5.5 and if vm2.6 is released you can just install the new version over the old one.
