The issues you have mentioned on this post are very important and really concerns me... But what should I do if  because of my template limitations, I'm not able to update? Which files should I change in order to keep it safe? Is there a solution for situations like this?

There are too many files that have been updated to attempt to fix old files. So updating your template overrides to work with current versions is the best way to avoid having an insecure site.
