Title: Child products for search engines and sitemaps
Post by: lindapowers on December 28, 2013, 00:58:45 AM
Hi

VM 2.024C

2 doubts.

Are child products visible for search engines when they are not published in the category and just appear in the dropdown list of the parent product?

Any way to make Xmap show them in the sitemap?

Regards

Yes, Google indexes the child products. I think there is no need to include them in a sitemap. I still don't use a sitemap at all. Last time I've added new products, the parent and child products were already indexed by Google (in top position of course  ;D ) when I checked it 15 minutes after I had published them and submitted the parent products via Google's webmaster tools.

Thanks jjk, so you submit the parent product manually from google webmaster tools?

Yes. Last weekend the new urls I've submitted were in the index less than 5 minutes later. Images usually still take a few days before they show up in image searches. I only submit the parent product urls.
