Hi VM-Community,
I am using vm 2.0.22 and jml: 2.5.14 and php5.4.
I need assistance or some input or ideas while trying to configure no taxes for orders from switzerland. I sell goods within europe and to switzerland, but only business to consumer - no b2b. Taxes should be applied to all european orders but no tax for switzerland - because they have to pay the importtaxes from their country. Of course I use rules to do this.
first Setup:
1. I set up one rule for "taxes by product" with 19 percent. I choosed all european countries and left out switzerland (see rule screenshot)
2. I applied this rule to all products (by picking its name in the selectbox when editing a product)
Effect: If I switch my useraccount now to switzerland, both product and cart-views show further tax (it has nothing todo with clearing cache and stuff like that ...)
I am unsure but I mean that this was working until vm2.0.8 or something like that. Is this a bug now or maybe I configured it the wrong way what leads to this situation.
second Setup:
1. I dis-applied (does this word exists ? lololo) tax per product-rule on every product (sure I´ve done this with SQL) and set it to: "Standard rules".
Effect: Aha great, it works nearly (not with discounted products): tax (and no tax for switzerland) in cart, invoice, product-details and browse views working now
BUT
1. only if I am logged in
If I am logged in everything is fine. If I am logged out, the finalprice (endpreis) without taxes is shown in product-detail and category-browse-views and of course this is not what I was looking for. I have to show standard endprices with tax at the product-views and cart.
Does somebody did a similar rule like that or does have a clue how it works, what is wrong with my config?
I appreciate any help, best regards
jens

Hi again,
Am I am the only one who's selling to switzerland from a european country? How did you manage tax-free orders?
regards jens
Hello Slammy, you are not the only one looking for a good solution to this.
One solution could be to move users from switzerland in to another shopper group which has no VAT rules applied (0%). You can move anonymous users to other shopper groups using a tool called Chameleon, and it can be done based on a rule that detects which country they come from (by IP). http://www.metamodpro.com/chameleon/chameleon. Hope this helps your situation.
Far better is to use our extension done for that
http://extensions.virtuemart.net/vm-orders/eu-vat-id-checker-detail.
It works global and also with testing the IPs
@Mildo and e-Trader
thank you both! Will give it a try and report my finals here.
best regards

Hi again,
i tried out the vat-tax_id Plugin from extensions.virtuemart.net and it works perfectly for me. Both B2B within europe with vat-id, standard-tax for all european private persons and no taxing for countires like switzerland or outside eu. Thanks to istraxx
