Title: Hide/do not display images in child categories

Hi,
I use Joomla 2.5.14 and VM 2.0.22d.
Is there any way to hide images (or else hide the noimage.gif) from specific child categories or if thats not possible hide it for all children categories?
I tried to use a transparent image but the placeholder is there and it screws up my view. I want to get rid of the a, img tags for children categories.

Use  image with 1x1 dimensions probably.
