Title: Buying a made template
Post by: k3ep3r on August 13, 2013, 11:29:29 AM
Hello everybody,

im new there. I would like to create own e-shop, but I have no programming experience ... My situation:

I purchased a domain + hosting
I uploaded Joomla 2.5 + virtuemart

Now I would like to purchase this template:

http://www.templatemonster.com/demo/39023.html

and then upload it to my website. My questions are:

1 Can handle configured shop by my own if I can dont know programming? This means add my own products, change the language to Slovak etc. ...
2 Is it possible to edit everything only through CMS?
3 When I purchase it, will it be filled with informations and I will only edit through CMS or do I have to configure anything?
4 Should I buy Template + Installation or only Template ?

Thanks for all answers... :) Marcel

It's template, i.e. customization of look and design. So it's time to ask template provide: "Are you able to support Virtuemart with your template?".

All other your questions which are not related to template possible to resolve by your own forces.

To be sure you could check (not fully read) on virtuemart.net docs and wiki, and on current forum check (not fully read) all available FAQs and sticked threads (only in VM2 section).

Hi

The template will just change the stlyling of your page. All the functionalities of VM will remain untouched.

If the template package follows the joomla standards, can be installed using the joomla installation process.
You have to ask the template devs for that and for its configuration settings

There could be two unlucky cases:
1. Template could not provide styling for VM pages still.
2. Template could provide styling for VM pages, but at this time broke some functionalities of VM.
That's why it's important to ask does template provide able to support VM or not.

Beware, though, as we have had many member issues with TM templates, as they have often been designed to work with earlier versions of VirtueMart 2 which means that when you update the VM version, as is necessary from time to time, then the site breaks and you will have to rewrite the template overrides code - or ask TM to do it, although it is unlikely they will as support is supposedly not very good. You could be stuck if you have no coding skills.

If you look at http://www.templatemonster.com/virtuemart-templates/39023.html you will see that this template is designed for VirtueMart 2.0.2 which is over a year old and has known security problems, therefore ir should not be used on a live site. I suspect a lot of work will be needed to get it to work with VM2.0.22a - our current version.
