Hi, I am using Joomla 2.5.8 and Virtuemart 2.0.0
I noticed that all category and thumbnail images work fine in Firefox and Chrome browsers.
But internet explorer doesnt show some product images. It just shows a small white box with a red cross in it.
But loads thumbnails and category images fine.

VirtueMart 2.0.0 is not only very old now, it was never fully compatible with Joomla 2.5 until after 2.0.2 - more importantly it has known security problems (as does J2.5.8 which should be upgraded to 2.5.11). I would suggest upgrading VM to 2.0.20b, although 2.0.22 should be ready in the next couple of days.
I don't have an old VM2.0.0 site around so am aunable to test that version - I also no longer have IE8 as that is old, too.....
The image on the page you lik to displays OK in IE10 - although it shows a JavaScript error:
