Title: Sitemap and VM2
Post by: torm on May 30, 2013, 07:25:20 AM
Hello there,

I have problem with generating sitemap. I am using Xmap and when I am trying to generate xml sitemap it goes with 500 error. I have more then 1200 items in shop so I understand it takes time, but I spoke with hosting provider and they told me that its problem in script. I was also asking about max timeout but that error which I am talking goes after around 20 sec.

You can see it at this link - http://www.bikesplast.cz/index.php?option=com_xmap&view=xml&tmpl=component&id=1

I tried by online generators, but they generate also links like recommend or ask question so then its three times more links.

Thanks!

I have the same problem
This is a problem for big shops. I have more then 1500 products.
I think the main problem is in the plugin. Everything wokrs fine, until I enable VM plugin.
I write in the support forum of Xmap, but there is no response.
I think there is no support for Xmap. Last version is not form Xmap developer, it is form Xmap user.
There is no good working SiteMaps.

The only way I found to make Xmap work was by creating  the shop link as frontpage and then a second menu option in a hidden menu, link to the Virtuemart Categories layout and then add that menu to Xmap. I found without doing it this way the VM xmap items would all show url/component/products rather than the correct URL's to the items
