Title: Category Layout Products Overlap
Post by: kden on April 22, 2013, 17:27:54 PM
I have a problem with one of my category layout pages...why it is only 1 of 4 I have no idea.
I'm hoping someone can help me to figure out why or where the problem is and how I can change it!!

I suppose that we cannot say anything without a link to your store. It looks like template problem. "Normal" view is on different template, am I right?

Yes, a url is usually essential for such issues. http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=79799.0

Although most issues can be easily worked out by the site developer using Firebug.  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=102850.0

I am using VM 2.0.2, with Joomla 2.5.6, and PHP 5.3

http://test.sternmastermarinetools.com/jupgrade/index.php/service (http://test.sternmastermarinetools.com/jupgrade/index.php/service)

I've been trying to use firebug but I am not sure if I do not know what to look for or if it is not telling me a problem...

The category layout pages that throw up the problem are the In Store Displays, Storage Racks, Accessories, and Service Stands.(I also am playing with other things so all of the category layout pages may be a little different)

As you can see some pages work and some do not. The Catalog link from the top menu is Virtuemart Front Page Storefront and that works, also product detail pages work.

I use RocketTheme Mynxx but nobody on support there seems to be helpful at all. This is making me ready to pull my hair out, it is only a problem with Virtuemart 2's 'Category Layout', which is essential to this store but cannot work!
We have a VM1, J!1.5 site currently with Mynxx and works like a charm, however we obviously needed to upgrade and my boss wants to stay with Mynxx even though there is no longer VM support. www.sternmaster.net (http://www.sternmaster.net)

Do you mean VM 2.0.2 or 2.0.20b (the current version)?

Are you using template overrides for the category view?  Disable all RT modules &plugins and test the VM function with the Beez20  template.

We are not really able to help with commercial template issues, as unless we ourselves buy them we cannot use them. Unfortunately issues with RT themes are all too common. See http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=114764.msg387325#msg387325

it looks like you upgrade your joomla from 1.5 to 2.5.. i guess that your template (which works great on old joomla) doesn't work well on 2.5. I really don't know where is problem.. but every upgreade I've done, required new template dedicated to joomla 2.5.  There where too many problems with old tempalates and creating new one was much easier way to solve.

Once I deactivated any Rok modules and moved to the beez20 layout it does all layout exactly as it should. I suppose we will be looking at a new template with Virtuemart 2 support and move away from the RocketTheme...

Thank you for your suggestion to look at that. Seems very simple to have been do frustrated over. Still disappointed with Mynxx but we will move on. Thanks again.

It is not difficult to style VM2 for use with virtually any Joomla template, but not those with too many bells & whistles for their own good!

I am currently working with the blankoshop template from Joomlabamboo.com which is a stripped down Joomla template with a great VM layout, but there are many others that can be used.
