Title: how secure is paypal confirmation of payment?

Hi,
I developed a module that monitors the status of the virtuemart when passing from P (pending) to C (confirmed), this change is closely linked to the paypal transaction, because as you know, when the payment is accepted that changes.
Offering digital services, automatically I make them available to users, how safe is this? an user can fake the POST data or in any way to write to virtuemart that the order is Confirmed passing the fake data?
