I am looking and looking but I cannot find the answer.
I selling a product in a set of 6 and I want to show the price per unit:
Pen - set of 6 $6.00 ($1.00 for each pen)
I can set the package amount in the product settings but it seems not do do anything
I using the lasted version of Virtuemart 2
Does anyone have an idea?
It seems that the function price per unit is not supported anymore?
I have seen other post where people asking where is the price label for packaging gone how to show unit price aso
But there is now answers.
So that means that these people and me are just to stupid to see it or this functions as been removed and noone wants to talk about it.
I need to show the unit price and I hope someone can help me
Thank you
Arnie
Arnie,
Hi there are extensions in the forum that have a variety of options for price per unit.
I think a few - like myself are wondering why you just don't write in the description field ( price per unit is $1.00)
and discounts as one increases the number.
I remember when MV2 came out this feature - was one of the first to be developed for free by " banquettables" I bet it is still there but in the extensions above I know people have developed almost every option for multiples of products.

Hallo John2400
Thank you for your answer but it did not really hit the problem.
So I try to explain my "problem" better so you don't have to wonder anymore :)
Most of our products we sell are coming in sets/packs or trays. for example: Glass Dolphins - set of 6
So with our Shopping cart system we using at the moment the product price display is as follow:
Glass Dolphins - set of 6
Price: $12.00 set of 6 (= $2.00 for each dolphin)
one more example to show you why it is so important to show the Price per Unit:
Crystal Octagons - tray of 35
Price: Price per Unit:
1 tray : $15.75 each tray (= $0.45 per octagon)
2-5 trays: $15.05 each tray (= $0.43 per octagon)
6-39 trays $14.70 each tray (= $0.42 per octagon)
and so on.
In the back end of Virtuemart in the product tab: Products Dimensions and Weight - I can define the Units in Box
Also in the Configuration - Pricing - Price Configuration you can hook: Show the price label for packaging - well this is according to a Manual for Virtuemart 2 updated to 2.0.8.
I have the latest version (2.0.20b) and this option is not there.
I have been searching the forum a lot- without any luck for a clear answer but I read that this option disappeared with version 2.0.10.
In my shopversion 2.0.20b is a new option in Configuration - Pricing - Show Following Prices called: Standardized Price and the MOUSE OVER TIP says: A standardized price for products sold in units, for example in meters, liters..........
But I am not able to find any information on this option, what it does and how it works!
Does this option is the NEW WAY of showing Price per Unit?
I am sure Virtuemart was able to show the Price per Unit, because in older post (2009), people asking how to hide it or to change the words / look
If you search for feature list of Virtuemart I found in the past the term "Unit Price" but now only in one place: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/e-commerce/shopping-cart/129 (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/e-commerce/shopping-cart/129)
Here it still says:
PRICES
- various type of prices to display depended by shoppergroup
- prices adjusted by shopper choosen currency
- different currency format per currency
- unit price
- quantity based pricing
Price per Unit is a core function for our business, well a core function for any business that sells packs, sets aso.
In some countries it is even law to display the unit price or price per litre, price per 100g.
But it seems Virtuemart took this function out of their shopping cart system.
I hope not! Apart from this problem I love the way how it works and I WANT to build our new shopping cart with Virtuemart.
Thanks
Arnie

If this is not your answer then post a link in it - or reply in this topic.
sorry to be in a hurry.
Hi John
Didi you had time to look at my last entry?
I looked a the Post you recommended, but this is only doing it half if at all.
I am still totally puzzled that the price per unit is not working in the basic virtuemart settings.
Here in Australia is is even law to show the unit price / price per 100g aso in the super market in Germany you have to show unit prices in your on line shop if you sellling higher quantities like a box with 6 bottles of wine.
Why cannot virtuemart doing it :'(
Hi Arnie,
This extension is related to quantity - and a sliding scale of volume -
As I can see what you want - that the actual unit price is displayed - from here I think you
might need to review this product and then write to the designer
http://extensions.virtuemart.net/products/quantity-related-price-calculation-detail
Also the unit price is done automatically, when you fill correctly the product status.
