Title: Abandon at Paypal / manual payment
Post by: wendyP on March 21, 2013, 09:01:29 AM
Hi, using VM2. on j2.5.7.  I have a query for the when a buyer completes the checkout process, arrives at Paypal and cancels.  If that buyer decides to continue with purchase, goes back to my site, clicks on Account Maintenance (via a menu using menu type VM Account Maintenance,) after login the user sees the Account Details page, Clicks on 'Your Orders', which then shows the list of orders, they can click on the order which is 'Pending'.  I was expecting to see a Paypal button which would allow them to click through and complete the payment process.  (this is what happens on another site I have which is j1.5 with VM1.7).

However, this VM2 site, doesn't have a Paypal button, and instead has a warning along the top of the content area which says:
Info: Attention, #__virtuemart_payment_plg_paypal has not any entry for the order    - screenshot attached.

Is this an error that can be fixed, or have I missed an important step in setting up this site? If it works differently -- how does a buyer come back and complete an abandoned purchased ?

-- this is my first VM2 configuration -- loving it so far.

When they cancel and come back from Paypal the shopper lands on the cart page, where they can select another payment method. I do not believe that they can subsequently go back to Paypal from the orders page, and normally, if they abandon the cart and close the browser then the pending order becomes cancelled. Unless you have some very unusual customers.....

Thanks jenkinhill,
the process you describe to start is correct, if they cancel when at paypal, they return to the cart page, (we only have paypal as payment option - so no other choices).  However, if they close the browser, the pending order doesn't become cancelled, it stays as pending.  What I was expecting to see thereafter, is that if that customer returns later, logs in and goes to Account Maintenance>Your Orders>, there is then a list which shows the abandoned order as Pending.  When clicking on that, I was expecting to see a 'paypal - click here to pay' button which enables them to click through to paypal to complete the transaction. I'm attaching a screenshot of an account maintenance page with pending order from another site (VM 1.7) site that I'm sometimes involved with.
Instead of seeing the paypal button, at my current site (have updated to 2.0.20b), I see the error message contained in the screenshot posted at the start of the topic.

I'm actually waiting for the same thing. The "pay now" button in account maintenance was extremely useful. For example when setting up orders for clients or when a client makes a reservation and comes back later to pay. Thanks for any help on this.

I'm having the exact same problem, however it's causing quite a big issue for me.

Basically I'm using coupon codes (AwoCoupon). Each code is limited to one use in total to redeem a purchase made elsewhere, however when a customer backs out at Paypal their coupon code is still assigned to that Pending order and as a result the customer cannot complete that order or create a new order with the same coupon as the coupon has been used.

Ideally, it'd be good if there was a button to complete the Pending order, alternatively is there a way for any orders that are not completed to be cancelled?

Just for the record, I'm using Joomla 2.5.7 and VM2.0.14.

Cheers
Liam

Apparently, it doesn't support Joomla 2.5 or higher and has been taken off the Joomla Extensions website.
