I am using VM 2.0.18A and we have the UPS and USPS shipping plugins installed as well as Paypal and Credit Card (Authorize.net) installed.
When I add a product to the cart I can select a Payment option it saves it but I am not able to select a shipping option and have it saved. So each time the user selects a shipping option they are returned to the cart page but the option is not displayed nor does the cart seem to have saved the selection.
Anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem?

Same problem here, did you find a fix for it?
I have the same issue, when selecting payment or shipping, does not show up on the cart unless you refresh it or select it a second time.
In my case it was because we are using JMS and the master site had a different setting for the "auto select shipping" option than the e-commerce website did
