Hi,
I just migrate a Joomla 1.5.26 + VM 1.x with JupgradePRO component to a fresh Joomla 2.5.9 but NO VM table migration, just menus, articles, contacts, users. :-[
Is there a way to migrate the VM data (products, categories...) of the old site to the J 2.5 site and upgrade to VM 2?
Thanks for any advices :)
The VM migration is done as described here: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=95236.0
Hi,
Thanks for answering.
I followed the upgrade process to VM2 of your link and also with the well detailed one http://dashhelp.com/tutorials/joomla-tutorials/75-migrate-virtuemart-1-1-9-to-version-2-0-updates?incap_redirect=2 with almost no trouble.
I THEN upgraded Joomla up to 2.5.9 (with jupgrade) then reload VM2 and used the included VM migration tool.
Everything looks fine (old users & old orders appear in the vm admin side) except products, categories , shipping, payment. But all those items are in the DB (_vituemart_product OK; _vm_product OK; _vm_category OK; _virtuemart_categories EMPTY...) and VM seems not to find the right tables. I hesitate to re-migrate the DB. Is there a path to fix somewhere or what else ?
Thanks for your time

I THEN upgraded Joomla up to 2.5.9 (with jupgrade) then reload VM2 and used the included VM migration tool.
At that point I used SP Upgrade rather the jUpgrade as I found it more reliable, and then installed VM2. Then with phpMyAdmin replaced the VM database tables with the equivalent VM tables from the J1.5.26/VM2 installation, copied over the image files and had a working system.
At the moment jUpgradePro does not migrate virtuemart. jUpgrade does but still better to use the MyPHPadmin method and then migrate products using VM migration tools
Hi,
Thanks for your disponibility.
I finally started and succeeded from a previous backup.
The lesson of this is Akeeba backup at each important step.
Backup, backup, backup...
Bye
Glad you fixed it.
