Title: VirtueMart eCommerce Bundle (Joomla! bundled with VirtueMart 1.1.9) INSTALLATION
Post by: surreal on December 29, 2012, 21:53:46 PM
hI
im quite new to this so id appreciate any help.i want to install virtuemart in a subdomain on my site.i initially downloaded and installed the latest version of joomla(2.5) and had installed it succesfully.however when i tried installing virtuemart i had permissions problems which i havent been able to solve.my extension manager simply doesnt work, whether its virtuemart or other extensions.so i came to this idea of creating yet again another subdomain and trying installing this joomla -  VirtueMart eCommerce bundle which i presumed all i had to do was ftp it to the site, create database and install like the other joomla installation.however when i type the subdomain.domain/installation nothing happens.is there a different way of installing this ecommerce bundle?i cant seem to find anywhere instructions on installing it.is this an easier installation(considering am a newbie n all) or is trying to fix the permissions thing with the joomla 2.5 installation an easier task?please any help wud be appreciated.thanks!

Firstly do not bother with the old eComm bundle. The versions of Joomla and VirtueMart in that are old and no longer suported.

If you managed to install Joomla 2.5 and it works OK then that is a start. If you cannot install any extensions at all then you probably have server problems, which could be inadequate php resources, a permissions problem or simply not enough hard disk space. You should use a good host company who are already known to provide a good setup for hosting Joomla sites - or if you just want to get experience of Joomla & VirtueMart then make a local server installation on your PC using Wamp or similar.  http://www.wampserver.com/en/
