so I setup a tax rule and applied the rule to certain categories that need to be charged tax and then setup a no tax rule gift certificates and set for those categories but that is being ignored and tax is being charged on gift certificates
Pricing rules overrides is being ignored on individual items such as gift certificates as the tax is being charged and when I have a discount rule setup the discount is also being applied. So let's say I want to offer a 40% or 20% discount on certain categories and have rules setup for just those categories but on the gift certificate the rule is set to no discount the discount is applied anyway and have set no tax and tax is being applied anyway.
OMG this is crazy, I have wasted so much time trying to get Virtuemart to work.

maryswave, did you get it to work? I'm having the exact same problem and no matter what I do, nothing. I'm about to lose what little hair I have left. :-\ I'm using the latest versin, 2.018a but nothing. Please let me know if you did or didn't solve it so I can at least move on. Thank you in advance.
It appears that 2.0.20b solves all the above problems, at least, it did for me. ;D
