Hi to all; we need VM2 to be able to assign a shopper group to a customer depending on his country at registration. For vm1 there is some kind of hack in the forum to achieve this, but for VM2 could anyone have an idea?

You can even do it for non registered. Just extend the geolocator, which is downloadable from here http://extensions.virtuemart.net/extensions-virtuemart-2/eu-vat-checker-detail
Vm2 is providing also shoppergroups for non logged in users!

..visitor have by default the wrong shoppergroup until admin changes the status from

Default
=> EU-VAT
=> NON-EU ?

???
