Title: How many characters in custom field?
Post by: Token on October 07, 2012, 13:28:23 PM
Hi,

I have migrated VM 1 to VM 2 and Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5. Now the custom fields are not beeing migrated.
I have some custom fields like below:

RAL 1000
RAL 1001
RAL 1002
RAL 1003
RAL 1004
etc.

In total there are 1470 characters for one product.

My question is how many characters can i put in the custom fields?
And is it possible to migrate these fields to VM 2?

I tried a text area but i can put in a maximum of 256 characters.

It seems that there is no solution for many custom fields??? Strange.

@Token - there is now a solution that solves a lot of the custom field gaps in VirtueMart 2. We posted about it here on the 3rd party extension vendor forum: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=108824.msg364211#msg364211

Next time you are stuck trying to get a VM2 custom field to do what you want, see if maybe embedding a custom form will do the trick!
