Title: new to VM: Payment question
Post by: ufodisko on October 04, 2012, 18:22:44 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm developing my first E-Commerce website using Joomla 2.5 and VirtueMart 2 and I have a few questions regarding the payment methods.

How does it work exactly?

For example, I live in Lebanon. We have banks, western union, and money gram.

What should I do to make payments through these mediums effective?

Do I have to create a bank account? But how do I link it with my site?

I have never used VM before so please be patient with me.

Thank you

ufodisko, yes you do need a back account whichever payment method you use.  In countries that have it, PayPal is the easiest payment method to start with as there is no startup cost. You can take payments through PayPal and then periodically transfer the money from PayPal into your own bank account.  A PayPal plugin is provided in VirtueMart 2.

Larger stores will use a proper payment gateway with a card merchant service, combined with a business bank account. Here you do have startup costs and in most cases, require a good trading record.
