Title: Discounts?
Post by: readyforchange on September 15, 2012, 06:46:22 AM
How do I setup discounts on categories?   Do I need an extension to do it.. or can I do it within virtuemart itself?

Sorry for being so vague :).

I'd like to be able to group items together on a page...  perhaps make a new category I would tag them all in and them give that category a discount.

How would I manage that?  I'd also use.. this list of items on sale in a mailer I would make as well.

Thanks!

You know on a normal post I'd say - yes put all the items in a category - remember products can be placed in more than one category - then add a tax to just that category.

I see today in version 2.0.11 it has some new fields and I bet one has a similar issue to just what you want.

Try it out  see attached

Do you know of some extensions that could do this type of thing?  With fancy product badges, and price reduction stickers/overlays and such?

Thanks for the link :).

However I need the solution for a live environment.

VM2 has several in the package as discounts , you can just create your own and upload them to that folder or do you want them like up in the corner of the template - ?

it is not something I use but I think there is a free hack in the forum - I just can't find it this morning - .  post your question in templating - be exact maybe put an image of where you want the discount image on the page -

That way I'm sure you will get a quick answer -I'll continue to look - but again you can just make your own and upload them into the product status area of a product
