Title: VirtueMart looks awful with my Joomla template - how to override?
Post by: Lisaweb on September 12, 2012, 20:32:15 PM
I am so confused about how VirtueMart templates work.  I've tried searching the forum but still don't understand.  I have a beautiful 2.5 Joomla template, and I installed VM 2.0 but VirtueMart doesn't display correctly at all within this Joomla template.  It's a mess - fields missing, layout skewed.

How can I override the Joomla template and get VM to display correctly?
Do I need to install a VM template?
If so, is there a default template I can obtain somewhere?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

You need to copy a few folders/files to the html folder inside your template folder.

@Lisaweb I hope that by saying 2.0 you actually mean 2.0.10

Some all singing & dancing Joomla templates have so much JavaScript and multiple css styles that it can be a problem to get VirtueMart to function & display properly. But these issues are rarely insoluble. The use of overrides and editing/adding VM specific css can make a theme that matches the template.

Thanks Jenkinhill & Chancehoggan for your suggestions!  I will study over these pages and report back.

Thanks again!
