Title: VM 2 drag and drop
Post by: franzpeter on July 12, 2012, 10:55:43 AM
I did read in some forum posts, that it should be possible to sort for example custom fields by drag and drop. Maybe it is a Mac problem. Did try it with Safari and Firefox browser as well as Google Chrome. I do not receive that function. So my question is: Does VM 2 support drag and drop in case of sorting products, categories or custom fields by default?
Things which work by drag and drop are for example category images, product images a.s.o by just dragging an image from my local computer to the upload function of VM 2. But sorting something in categories, custom fields or products does not seem to work that way.

I think you covered them all -

Some images, yes custom fields work, pulling an image to upload - almost .

The categories no,

The main one is just in products custom fields and product images (moving them around)

@John2400,

in case of custom fields, how did you get it to work? If I go to the list view and try to drag and drop a custom field, it does not. I cannot move around custom fields in that way. What I can do is sorting custom fields by entering the position numbers manually and then click on the disc image to save it.
In Joomla itself that does not work too. Maybe it only works with Internet Explorer but not with other browsers. Or is that a feature which needs a external plugin to make it work?

@John2400,

what operating system do you use? Is it MacOS, Linux or Windows? Did try it with MacOS and RedHat Linux, Debian and CentOS. There is no drag and drop for custom fields.

Hello John2400,

thanks for answering. Now I know where you use the drag and drop. So I did misunderstand something. Indeed it works in the products > custom fields >add custom field. I thought it would work too in the custom fields creation tool. Indeed it would be more useful and nice if it would work in the overview pages for categories and products too. There it would make some sense too.
