Title: Odd question : Clean uninstall?
Post by: bshot1 on May 13, 2012, 19:03:05 PM
So here's my problem, I installed virtuemart -- then based on what my client said they wanted, I installed a simpler cart system, so I deleted all the virtuemart components I could find. My client then said they wanted to be able to present hundreds of products... uninstalled the other cart system and tried to reinstall virtuemart.

So what do I need to find and delete so I can cleanly install virtuemart again with all the plugins?

Your question is not very clear. Why did you delete the files of Virtuemart instead of uninstalling it from Joomla Extensions manager? Doing this you still left the foot marks of Virtuemart installation in Joomla database.

However even in this case you should still be able to re-install Virtuemart in your system without any problem as Virtuemart installer use upgrade method of Joomla component installation. You may have to re-create the database table to sync the media after the installation from the Tools section.

Also make sure that you have enable database update option in your VM Configuration page.

Somehow I fixed, I have absolutely no clue how. I just kept reinstalling the two files 4-5 times until it finally took  :o
Don't ask me how but I guess it fixed itself somehow.
