I try to access my site and get a white page saying 'no input file specified'

before it happened all I was doing was navigating through virtuemart joomla extension trying to add currency and product

did virtuemart do this?

Are you using Godaddy? To fix the server related issue See http://www.templatemonster.com/help/joomla-troubleshooter-no-input-file-specified.html and also http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2725896#p2700376
