Title: Is plausible to do shopping without registration?
Post by: john-doe on April 29, 2012, 16:25:22 PM
Greetings.

I have my site with virtuemart 2.0 on joomla 1.7 (this is a currente test site since the ultimate versions seems like doesnt have major changes).

My client want than the shop doesnt requiere registration but it seems like than it can't be done.

Is there a way to configure virtuemart so the shopper can enter his details without registration?

Thanks in advance

Guest registration is the least invasive option, as some information is required for checkout, especially since a payment method may be assigned to a country, and shipping also may need an address for calculation.

VM2.0 has a known security issue, fixed in VM2.0.4+ so you should not use 2.0 on a live shop.  Also Joomla 1.7 has known security problems, and many sites have already been hacked. The only versions of Joomla currently stated to be secure are 1.5.26 (but now at end of life) and 2.5.4
