Title: Upgrading VM 2.x
Post by: kerrianne42 on April 23, 2012, 18:08:11 PM
Hi,

I installed VM 2.0.2 on Joomla 2.5.4. Went fine.

Several updates missed, I realized that VM isn't telling Joomla it needs to update - my control panel still tells me that all my extensions are up to date.

So, I went through VM's internal "update" sequence - and keeps timing out or giving a generic "Internal Server Error". When I downloaded the latest VM package (2.0.6 - that control panel update notification is something I really would like to depend on! Missing updates causes too much stress!) and unzipped it to upgrade via the extension manager, I get the same generic "Internal Server Error".

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thank you,
~kerrianne42

To update use Joomla's extensions installer exactly as if installing a new component. It will not overwrite your existing products etc as long as you do not uninstall first!

Solved this problem by installing 2.0.4, THEN installing 2.0.6.

(of course, other stuff broke, but I'll start another thread for that if I can't find answers)

Thanks anyway.

Hello, i have problem with update from 2.0.2 to 2.0.6. I'm use J2.5.3. If i update automatic (update to the latest version), i get error_auto.png, if i update via extension manager from ...tmp/directory_name folder (files is extracted), i get error_update.png.  tmp permision is 777. Where is problem?

That didn't work either. What did work was to unpack the 2.06 package and install it using the 'install from directory' method.
Seemed to work well, untill I reloaded the front and my images were gone. They are visible in the backend, linked correctly, but somehow they won't show up in the frontend. I have to open each (!) article and resave to get them to show again but even more disappointing is that all extra images are not showing...

This is bad.
