Title: Enable SSL in Sensible Areas
Post by: Merry on April 13, 2012, 19:13:31 PM
The Admin explanation for "Enable SSL in Sensible Areas" COM_VIRTUEMART_ADMIN_CFG_SSL_EXPLAIN says the following:

"This forces joomla to use SSL for the links in the cart and the user area. Be sure to use the right joomla settings for the user maintance, the anonymous order and the login"

I've searched this forum, and I've Googled "Joomla and (user maintenance) or (anonymous order) or (login)"! I can't find what the right Joomla settings are for this triad. All I come up with are this admonishment.

What does this mean, in English please?

Thanks!
Merry

Did you ever find the issue? I am having the same issue - no matter what I do... SSL just will not work but it works fine on with the other components installed.

I dont know what right joomla settings mean, but here is how i did it in my shop.

- Enable SSL in Sensible Areas in VM
- Create Menu Items for Checkout and Account Maintenance
- Under Metadata Option in the Menu Edit Page for Checkout and Account Maintenance, choose "ON" for Secure.

Cheers

You need also to have an SSL cerificate in your server. Something that is usually supplied by the hosting company
