Title: Joomla 1.5 to 2.5 Virtuemart 1.19 to latest Migrate?
Post by: sportbikejunkie on April 11, 2012, 00:00:29 AM
OK, this is probably answered somewhere but my search strings have not pulled anything useful.

I am upgrading my site from 1.5 to 2.5.

I currently am running 1.1.9 Virtuemart on my 1.5 and need to know how to import it into my 2.5 site running 2.0.4.

Thanks

Same question here. Could not find a "how-to" :-\
I upgraded Joomla to version 2.5 and there I am stuck. The manual says: just install VM2 over the existing VM1. However after the Joomla migration Virtuemart 1 is gone at all. I installed VM2 anyway, but that was not the most clever idea I guess. VM2 is there, but that is it, no products, customers etc.
Ok, it is not a disaster, it was just a copy of my original site, but anyway I like to know how to do it right. So I look for a step by step guide. Is there any?
Best wishes
Dirk

Keywords, hm. 'Right order of migration steps' perhaps? E.g. should I first migrate Virtuemart and then Joomla or just the other way round?
I read about Virtuemart being able to use several languages, that would be a great improvement for me (who has already begun to set up another shop system). However I could not find anything in the forums and documentation. Have I missed something?
Someone told me multilanguage means Virtuemart can use Joomfish now, is that right? However Joomfish does not support Joomla 2.5. I am a little confused.

Has anyone solved this? I've followed Milbo tutorial step by step, I've started with my site in a local installation with joomla 1.5 and VM 1 but when I tried to install VM2 I got a blank page and couldn't go on.

No - VM2 is natively completely multi-lingual  - Joomfish isn't needed

sorry, maybe I have not explained well,

what I mean is that no matter migration Joomfish translations from joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5 Virtuemart 2, migration should import the translations and I do something wrong, or this option is not contemplated?

sorry for my english.

Thanks.

How could it possibly migrate/import data and settings from a 3rd party extension (Joomfish) which afaik is completely incompatible with VM2.0?

VM2.0 has a native multi-language system completely compatible with Joomla's multi-langusge - you will just have to bite the bullet and redo your translations..

Or write a script to do what you want and contribute this to the community...  :)

Was meaning it was un-realistic to expect the native VM migrator to integrate Joomfish files..  ;)

Hi Milbo,

Yes, I have followed all the steps, but virtuemart products once the migration does not have translations.

I understand the script jUpgrade this is not done, right? (I have 1000 products in 6 languages and is a nuisance to have to re-translate).

It seems that you no longer use redcomponent jUpgrade instead redMigrator used, have not seen any documentation on the site forum, but neither works for me migrate translations.

I find it strange that no one has encountered this problem before. And if the site contains many products in many languages is hard work.
