Connection Reset when updating order status

Hello,

I noticed this morning that when I attempted to update the order status on my orders from the overnight that I am starting to get a connection reset error whenever I attempt to save the status update.

I contacted my web host figuring it sounded like a memory or server side problem and they are not seeing any changes or issues in my account.

It's odd that this happened between 11 pm EST and 6 am EST with absolutely no server side or virtuemart setting changes.

Any thoughts on where I could look? I've only found this error to be with the update status and no other functions. People are still placing orders and everything else seems to be working.

I'm using Joomla 2.5.28 , VM 2.6.22 with PHP 5.5

when your updating the status is a pdf invoice produced at that point?

pdf production takes a lot of resources.. perhaps if the server is busy it is timing out etc
