Title: 500 Internal Server Error
Post by: marcgagnon on April 24, 2012, 04:41:58 AM
Hello!

I solved this problem "500 Internal Server Error" on my godaddy shared server by unarchiving the tar.gz files into a new directory and compressing it under a .zip format , installing it with the extension manager and it worked all fine.

I had try all the other alternatives max_execution-time, Memory,...  but this one worked.

You have to do this for both compressed files.

Maybe it would be easier if the developpers would compress the files in a more conventional zip format.  Took me hours to figure it out for such a singular solution.

Found the answer here using google translater: http://www.joomlaportal.de/joomla-2-5-j1-7-e-commerce-l-sungen/275638-virtuemart-l-sst-sich-nicht-installieren.html

Yours,

Marc

The problem is that the zip format takes now already more than 2100 kb. Most servers use 2048kb as upload limit. Additionally to that was the tar.gz a lot more known than zip.

We already provided the beta as tar.gz and as zip. But people with crappy servers will always have a problem. Either it is too big, or it is tar.gz, lol.

Hi All,

I've try to unzip the original file downloaded from  VM latest (2.0.12 stable version) from http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files

I choose com_virtuemart.2.0.12f_extract_first.zip

Extract the file first using winzip and have 2 zip file which is com_virtuemart.2.0.12f.zip and com_virtuemart.2.0.12f.aio.zip

And install both zip file using install/update at Joomla 2.5.7 admin GUI. But the same error appear once i try to upload new product

I've try other installation using upload the file at tmp folder and install using second option and Joomla admin but still received the same error while uploading a new product

Can u assist me on how you install the VM2 and which installer that i need to download

Your assistance is highly appreciate

thanks

regards,

Hi Bytelord,

Thanks for your prompt reply ;)

I've managed to solve previous issue by reinstall everything from the scratch and i notice that the error is when i update the product and fill the currency details. Need to make sure the default currency is the same with the new product registered

But the new issue has come out.   :'(

I'm using template developed by astemplates. The problem is, some of the content is not in the right position. The major error is when u request to check out after buying things on the mart, the edit and billling information is mess up. The save button/ cancel button/ checkout as a guest button arrangement is one up and one down. Even worst u can't see the words inside the button due to the box button become smaller

This is the error appear "Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /var/www/html/templates/as002037/index.php on line 42 "

Can someone help me dealing with this error

Thanks

Regards,

Hai Bytelord,

My VM is 2.0.12f

What do you mean by VM default template? Is it with Joomla default template? The arrangement is also not in a good arrangement with Joomla default template. With the latest templates attach (layout design) can i fix this issue? How to install layout changes zip. Do i need to uninstall my current VM and install using file attach (VM 2.0.12 layout changes zip) in your previous comment?

Regards,

ok,

Let's take it from the start. You buy a commercial template from astemplates and produces some errors in index.php ... this is a joomla template issue have to do with joomla templates and not vm ... so first you should ask them and request support for them. Also please read the following: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=108212.0

Try to change to joomla beez20 template as the default one to check if it is working fine ...

The files layout changes is some images that compare the previous and the current release of vm and show the changes on the default templates, so it is easy for the user to update his custom template, is not an installation package or any other extension... just images ... open then and take a look ... did you try?

I have to say again your error comes from your commercial template .... and index.php is a part of Joomla Template system ... so please ask your template provider have nothing to do with vm or joomla ....

Having a big problem updating virtuemart  2.0.10 to 2.0.12f. The installation goes fine and it says all updated and installed but if I then visit any area of virtuemart (either on the front end or back end) the server times out and the connection was reset. I'm presently testing this on my local machine and any help/advice would be appreciated

Cheers
Martin

Hello,

This one seems as Apache/PHP issue. Any errors inside joomla log?
Take also a look over here:
